About Nanami: Nanami is Hisoka's neighbor across the street. She lives with her parents and older brother Keisuke. She's very shy, smart and gentle. She is also very selfless and always wanting to make everyone happy. She's not much of a socialite but has gotten used to hanging around a lot of people because of the crowds her brother and her best friend, Chiaki, run with.
She's had a crush on Hisoka ever since she could remember, but she knows she doesn't stand a chance against all the girls chasing him. She also realizes he sees her as a sister since he's known her since she was baby and they've grown up so closely together. She's often depressed about this but she never lets it show except to Chiaki. Chiaki, is constantly trying to get them together. She spends a good amount of her day scheming ways to get them closer together.
Nanami is always reading shoujo manga and she loves drawing cartoon characters in her spare time. Chiaki keeps pushing her to submit a comic to a publicist but Nanami doesn't think she's good enough (but she actually is!) Nanami's #1 biggest fear is rejection.
Believe it or not, Nanami can also play a pretty good game of basketball. Her brother forced her to play with him the summer that Hisoka broke his leg. Ever since then Keisuke will get Nanami to play basketball with them every so often so she won't get rusty.
Nanami is a 2nd year student and a member of the school's tennis team. While she's not very sporty, she loves to play a good game of tennis. Coach Sato is constantly getting frustrated with her. She can see Nanami's passion for tennis but wishes that she was more competitive.
Nanami is not very well liked at school. She attracts a number of male classmates' attention as an easy target and considered a square by the other guys. Most of the girls are jealous of her relationship with Hisoka and those who aren't think of her as a wanna-be for hanging out with Hisoka's crowd. Even though Chiaki, Hisoka and Keisuke watch out for her, when she's alone she is often picked on or ridiculed by her classmates. Needless to say, Nanami doesn't like school very much. But with Chiaki's pep talks, Nanami manages to stay positive, regardless.
Creator's comments: Nanami was actually the 2nd attempt at a childhood sweetheart type girlfriend for Hisoka. XD I was really trying hard for a "girl next door" look...
