Adjust
Curves
Adjust the curves of the photo so that the picture is brighter overall. This is what will make the photo "glow" when blurred and give the photo it's soft look. Go to Image > Adjust... > Curves... (Ctrl + M) |

| This window will pop up. You want to click anywhere above the line in the upper right hand grid block (circled). |

| When you click, a point will pop up and the diagonal will turn into a curve. Your photo in the background should get noticably lighter also. Click OK. |
