Duplicate
Layer
Duplicate the Background layer so we have a layer to work the gaussian blur on. Go to Layer > Duplicate Layer... (or drag the Background to the New Layer button in the Layers window) |

| This window will pop up. Make sure it says Duplicate: Background. Click OK. |

| Now you will have a 2nd layer exactly the same as the Background layer. |
