Who’s that girl and Beauty S body?

Huzzah! They are finally here! *throws confetti and does a high kick* I bought a Kana02 (that’s pronounced KAH-NAH, not kay-nuh) and Mami06 (MAH-MEE not Maymee or mamogrammy XD)

I am really pleased with these girls and I really wish I had followed my instincts and gotten more like I originally planned. They are too cute and for the price, you really can’t beat them. I must admit, I like them better than Momoko. While Momoko is cool and all, I think I have issues with her pre-packaged attitude. I still like Momoko though so all you who think I be hating on Momo backdown! That’s not the topic here. Anyways. 😀

Super duper cute but simple face paints. I will definitely hafta change them up to fit along with my girls better. But for the most part *nods* I’d be okay leaving them alone as is. Perhaps I will get two more to keep as untouched. I will hafta change Mami’s eye color though. I think her eyes are too wide and plain and it bugs me. Do you like Kana’s hair pulled up? I had wanted to do that since I first saw her and is the reason why I bought her in the first place. She reminds me so much of Ryo Hayama from Bremen. Am gonna put her up in a short(er) skirt and a pair of 12 inch clogs and give her a drumset!

Just about the funkiest thing about these and the Beauty S bodies is that they come with leg extenders. It’s a 1cm tall flesh colored tube that you can stick in between the leg and foot to make her taller. Kana is wearing them now. That’s why there is such a size difference between her and Mami (go scroll up and look where the knees are of the two girls in the picture). The peg for the foot is twice as long as the usual Volks body. I was kinda shocked when I first pulled it out. I think I actually said “oh wow” out loud when I looked at it. Hahaha. My only complaint is that the tube and leg don’t quite match up so there’s a visible line. I think they could have made it more of a puzzle piece that slides or snaps in. *shrug* It’s a cool thing anyway.

Now… This is what really got me. Looking at the way that the Beauty S body was created… there are no screws in the body, unsightly holes in the back of the body either. I am wondering if this was the body that Volks was complaining that Obitsu “took” from them? Looking at the elbows of Beauty S and Obitsu… they are practically the same. These are NOT the same elbows in the Volks Neo body. The hand is also a very soft vinyl, much like the Obitsu and can easily be moved. The Neo optional hands were soft, but not this soft. The body of the Beauty S is also a cheaper plastic than older Volks bodies and is lighter and slightly slightly more rubbery feeling. Don’t ask me how I can tell the difference but I can. 6 years handling these dolls over and over and you’ll pick up on stupid things like that too. (It’s my super hero talent.)

I’m not saying that Volks or Obitsu is at fault for having such similar bodies because I really don’t know which body was in the works first. But the similarities really made me go HMMMM… So which is bettah, Beauty S or Obitsu Sofbe body? Hmmmmmm…. I’m gonna hafta say Obitsu. Because the degree of articulation and movements of limbs and joints is greater. It makes me kind of sad that Volks is starting to not focus so much on the articulation. The doll bodies that they keep coming out with move less and less. So depressing.

Overall Beauty S and WTG line, I really like. I just wish the doll wasn’t so dang flat chested and could sit on her knees. =_=;;
