1/6th Scale / Dolls / Goodies / Hair Styling

updates!

As usual, here is a goodies check of the stuff I got at Waco:
At first Katie (kawaiikatiekat) and I were rather disappointed in all the stuff that we saw at the show. About 75% of the booths were antique dolls. It really sucked for a first show and I kinda felt bad for Katie for dragging her all the way there for crap like that. But towards the end of the show we ended up buying a few things that made it worth coming. Oh. Sherri drove, so we had to wait until she was finished with her stuff to go home. Otherwise, we probably would have left an hour after we got there. But I suppose it’s all good since we did all of our shopping the hour before show closing.

We had spotted a booth that was selling vintage accessories for eh… a fairly decent price but we didn’t feel the need to spend $2 on a Ken’s pocket watch. But at the end of the day, I suppose the dealers just wanted to get rid of stuff so they started discounting. Among the discounts was this large ziplock back FULL of 1970s Barbie Dream House kitchen accessories. $5 for the whole bag. Katie and I pounced on it, agreeing to split the booty in half. So that was our first purchase and from there, we went bargain shopping for reals, yo.

We started digging in the old musty boxes of ratty doll clothes seeing what bargains we can salvage. Katie found a lot of cool outfits, I only found a few. But hey, 5 items for $1… I’m not complaining at all about what I got. I found some old dirty vintage Ken clothes that were either faded, or in need of repair. The reason there’s two of those brown shirts is because I bought the first one, which was faded thinking I wouldn’t find another, and later on I found an even better one. Didn’t matter, they were both like $1, so no big. I also found a lot of handmade clothes– like that pink evening wear poncho thingy… what are those called anyway??– that were definitely worth buying for a mere what? 35 cents or so. I also bought a Spice Girls: Scary Spice because she was half off ($4). When I got home, I promptly stripped her and threw the body aside. I just wanted the dang outfit. Katie got the awesome striped boots since I already had a pair. Also, David (rufusblue) sent Sherri another care package. She gave me a few extras and included in that was a new Barbie Beat Street Fashion Avenue. Thanks David!! 😀

Chi is wearing that outfit along with a yarn hat I bought in a pile of $1 clothes. Ashley is wearing a Vintage Ken shirt, coat and hat. I think he looks retro-shiek. 🙂

Which… I had a dream last night about Ashley wearing that coat. It was odd because I usually can’t recognize people in my dreams by their faces. Usually, faces are semi-blank in my dreams, but I just *know* who the person is supposed to be… ya know? But this time, I saw Ashley’s face, 100% and he looked JUST LIKE my doll. XD Uh… we were calmly arguing, and I’ll spare you the details, but I remember I was handing over some sort of 16 inch Obitsu-y doll to him angry that he wanted it in the first place. Mind you, Ashley was human, not a doll in my dream. Cool none-the-less to be able to converse with one of your dolls. He had a nice voice. 🙂

Last week I had bought these when I went to Evelyn’s store to meet up with Katie. I LOOOOVE Silkstone outfits because they fit so good on Century Model bodies and the detailing is so nice (her garters actually hook on to the hose… those hose didn’t come with the set). This was the reason why I reconstructed Ari’s face, so she could wear this pretty black lingerie I bought just for her.

I left their hair in a cello while I was at Waco and when I came home, their hair was fixed. Cuuuute. XD
